We already have smartphones that have 8 GB of RAM and it is already considered an exaggeration. The OnePlus 6 and the Little F1 are two smartphones that already offer 8 GB of RAM. Even Samsung followed his example with the new Galaxy Note 9 and today it seems that all have been defeated.
ENAA, China’s regulatory bodies that certify smartphones before their eventual release, revealed a smartphone that will have 10 GB of RAM. It is not a new smartphone, but a new variant of a smartphone that was launched a few months ago. The Oppo Find X comes with 10GB of RAM and was discovered by GizmoChina. At this time, it is not known when the smartphone will be launched and there is no news on whether this variant will reach India.
That said, it’s probably the first smartphone that has that amount of memory under the hood. It’s definitely an exaggeration as things are today, since smartphones do not really need that amount of computing power. There are other rumors suggesting that the sister brand of OPPO ‘Vivo’ may also include a 10 GB RAM on one of its next smartphones.
To put things in perspective, laptops in the markets do not offer 10 GB of RAM even today. A smartphone that is capable of achieving this feat is not only impressive, but it can set a precedent for smartphones and other future devices. In addition, this variant of the Find X also has 256 GB of internal storage, which is more than the ROM of my laptop where I am currently writing this story. Since ‘Find X’ is not compatible with expandable storage, the additional space is definitely an upgrade. Other specifications include the same Snapdragon 845 chipset, a 6.42-inch AMOLED screen and fast charging. The smartphone also has a sliding mechanical selfie camera that appears every time you turn on the selfie camera.
